The African Bird’s eye Chilli, widely known as PERi-PERi, has been used across southern Africa for centuries. The Portuguese fell in love with it, adding it to their traditional marinated chicken, and PERi-PERi chicken was born. Then in 1987, Fernando Duarte and Robbie Brozin planted the Nando’s seed in the Johannesburg suburb of Rosettenville, South Africa.
