Deliveroo’s ‘You Do Yule’ Hotline promises to help deliver the Christmas that Brits actually want, quirks and all…
Tuesday 2 December - London, UK: Christmas is magical, but it can also be a lot. It comes with the pressure to be everywhere at once, to stick to traditions, and to please everyone else but yourself.
Well, move over Santa, because Deliveroo is taking the reins to make festive wishes come true, swapping ho, ho, ho’s for some hu, hu, hun energy. The delivery app has teamed up with the UK’s most persuasive national treasure, Alan Carr, to launch the You Do Yule Hotline, helping Brits tell their loved ones how they really want to spend the most magical time of year.
Set to sprinkle some sparkle and sass into Britain’s festive season, the new hotline will be open from 2 to 7 December. The festive service will see the comedy icon use his well-documented powers of persuas-hun to deliver the messages that Brits feel they could never get away with saying, empowering everyone to celebrate Christmas their way.
Equipped with his uniquely dis(ch)arming humour, Alan is here to help Brits say yes to what they love, no to what they don’t, and to make Christmas moments even better. From telling your boss you’d rather bed rot than go to yet another client drinks, to letting the family know you are absolutely stockpiled with socks, or politely confessing to your mum that you’ve broken tradition by opting for shop-bought gravy - Alan has you covered.
The festive hotline comes as new research from Deliveroo reveals that nearly nine in ten (85%) Brits prioritise other people’s Christmas wishes over their own, with almost two thirds (60%) admitting to not being honest about how they want to spend Christmas to avoid hurting others’ feelings.
In fact, half of Brits (50%) are guilty of saying they will attend events throughout the Christmas period, whilst secretly planning to cancel at the last minute. What’s more, one in four (24%) admit to telling a white lie to get out of festive obligations, while one in ten (13%) have gone as far as to fake an illness! It’s no surprise then that Brits say the top thing (42%) that would make their Christmas even better is simply being able to do what they want.
Speaking about his new role delivering festive truths to Brits this Christmas, Alan Carr said:
“I’ve recently discovered I’m actually quite persuasive, who knew? So this Christmas, think of me as your own personal elf - on hand to deliver your festive truths for you. Need help saying no nicely or yes proudly? I’ve got you. And thanks to my cheeky chat, I can get away with saying almost anything. I’m ready and waiting to serve up some giggles and fun while helping to navigate your festive conundrums. ‘Tis the season, after all, so You do Yule, hun.”
A Deliveroo spokesperson added: “We know our customers love Christmas, but between endless party invites, running out of cheese for your cheeseboard, or forgetting a Secret Santa gift, it’s easy to feel frazzled.
That’s why Deliveroo has teamed up with Alan Carr to man the You Do Yule Hotline. We want to help make every moment this Christmas even better, and our hotline is all about giving Brits permission to do the festive season their way... delivered with a cheeky smile and a bit of festive magic.”
Whether it’s back-up Friendsmas cheese you accidentally ate, self-care essentials for a rom-com night in, or a pizza break from turkey leftovers, Deliveroo is one tap away this festive season, delivering from favourite partners in as little as 25 minutes.
The You Do Yule Hotline will be available on WhatsApp via 07564986940 or wa.me/447564986940 from 2 to 7 December, between 9am and 9pm. To submit an entry, users simply need to record a voice note and send it to Alan via the link or number provided. Select applicants will then receive a personalised voice note from Alan himself, delivered straight to their phone, to keep or send on to whoever needs to hear it. What a sleigh!
