19th December 2024: A new emergency service is launching to ensure the second most important delivery happens at Christmas - Santa’s fireplace treats.

With 40% of Brits admitting they can’t resist eating Santa’s treats before Christmas Eve and 3 in 5 having to make do with whatever’s left in the cupboard, OREO has partnered with delivery app, Deliveroo to launch an S.O.S Service (Save OREO (cookies) for Santa). The service will provide a last minute lifeline for Brits left having to improvise when out of milk and cookies. Much to Santa’s disproval…

It comes as new research reveals an apple (25%), a slice of pizza (22%), a yoghurt (21%) and sandwiches (20%) top the list of things forgetful parents in a predicament have left out for the big man on Christmas Eve.

Even poor Rudolph seems to be suffering from Brits’ Christmas faux paus with 34% replacing his carrot with a potato, and even Brussels sprouts (19%) - as majority (86%) try and keep the magic alive for their little ones the night before Christmas.

The all-new limited edition service on Deliveroo, will be available on Monday 23rd and Tuesday 24th December only, helping over one in two parents who take part in the tradition who have forgotten Santa’s snack on the neverending Christmas to-do list (59%). Ensuring he gets the treats he deserves this year and relieving families from needing to resist the cookies for too long this festive season. Complete with a carefully crafted cookie plate, a carrot for the rednosed sidekick, a refreshing glass of milk and most importantly the brand new (and perfectly dunkable) OREO Gingerbread cookie.

Other items making the substitution list include a sandwich (20%), nuts (18%), cheese (16%) and a healthy snack bar (16%). When polled on why it is that parents are forgetting Santa, being preoccupied with a myriad of other Christmas tasks and traditions (37%), being all too busy (32%), and finding Christmas overwhelming (31%) came out on top.

This has left many parents in a festive frenzy, as a quarter (25%) worry they could ruin the magic of Christmas for kids and 22% felt they’ve felt guilty for spoiling things - even leaving 26% afraid he might skip their house next year.

Meanwhile, some clever parents use Santa to their advantage. A majority (70%) confess they’ve used him as a bargaining chip for good behaviour, while 59% say they complete the ritual early to entice children to go to bed on the big night. However, it seems the Christmas magic isn’t just about the kids, with 69% agreeing they carry out Christmas Eve traditions for themselves just as much as the kids, and 1 in 8 (15%) going as far as to say they love them even more than their children.
