DELIVEROO SEES CHRISTMAS SURGE IN RETAIL ORDERS FOR DECORATIONS, GIFTS AND WINTER WELLNESS

London, 16th January 2025: New data released today by Deliveroo shows a surge in retail throughout December, as consumers turned to on-demand delivery during the festive period.

Deliveroo saw a boost in orders for everything from emergency Christmas decorations and gifts, to winter essentials and self-care moments, reflecting the growing range of retailers on the platform.

The analysis compares growth in order volumes in December 2025 compared to the same month a year prior, revealing some of the top performing retail categories.

Last minute Christmas decorations

Out of all non-food categories on the platform, Christmas crackers saw the biggest spike in orders across December 2025, skyrocketing by 500% year-on-year. More than a third of the orders were placed on the 23rd and 24th December, with the nation almost forgetting one of the most essential parts of the Christmas table setting.

Other last minute festive items also saw a significant boost:

  • Orders of christmas decorations and party supplies were up by more than 60%
  • Orders of wrapping paper and gift bags were up by more than 30%

Christmas gifting

With the addition of new partners to the app like The Entertainer, and the expansion of existing brands such as Boots, The Perfume Shop, and Accessorize, many shoppers came to Deliveroo for Christmas gifting.

  • Orders for perfumes were up by more than 180%
  • Orders for toys were up by more than 160%
  • Orders for health & beauty appliances up by more than 350%

Battling the winter blues

Health and home comfort were top of mind for Brits in December with cough, cold, and flu medication becoming the most sought-after non-food items on the platform, when looking at total order volume.

Orders for vitamins & supplements were up by more than 50%, suggesting that many Brits were focussed on boosting immunity or starting New Year health kicks early.

As temperatures dropped, shoppers also turned to Deliveroo to help them beat the winter chills, with orders for portable heaters going up by more than 250% and orders for duvets increasing by 290% as shoppers battled the cold weather.

Party prep and recovery

As the party season hit its peak, consumers turned to Deliveroo for final finishing touches for parties, along with recovery and self-care moments:

  • Orders for hair colouring & bleaching products increased by more than 160%
  • Orders for face creams, serums & masks increased by more than 110%
  • Orders for make up increased by more than 220%
