London, 28th July 2025:Co-op has become the first grocer to partner with Deliveroo Express in the UK, rolling out the delivery platform’s new white label solution aimed at grocers and retailers to hundreds of the convenience retailer’s stores.
Customers in the UK ordering quick and convenient online deliveries through Co-op’s own online shop will now be supported by Deliveroo Express, utilising Deliveroo’s backend tech infrastructure and extensive rider network to fulfil orders from hundreds of Co-op sites nationwide, delivered in as little as 60 minutes.
Co-op was Deliveroo’s first major grocery partner when it launched its grocery business in 2018. The partnership has since grown, enabling customers to now order Co-op groceries from the convenience retailer’s own online shop or through the Deliveroo platform from nearly 1,400 Co-op stores in communities across the UK. Most recently, Deliveroo launched Co-op’s membership benefits on the app, enabling Co-op members to benefit from member price savings on their orders through Deliveroo.
Suzy McClintock, VP of New Verticals at Deliveroo, said: "We’re thrilled to continue our partnership with Co-op as they adopt our white label delivery solution, supporting fast and reliable on-demand deliveries through their existing website. Deliveroo Express is the next step in our mission to transform on-demand delivery, ensuring we remain the partner for growth, for grocers and retailers alike, helping them reach more consumers through their own online channels.”
Chris Conway, Co-op Quick Commerce Director, said: “Growing our quick commerce channel is a core part of our strategic approach, and I am delighted to build on our long-standing and successful partnership with Deliveroo. Working together we are focussed on meeting the evolving needs of shoppers. This includes making the fast and reliable delivery of Co-op groceries available to more communities and creating value through member price savings as we see consumer appetite for quick and convenient grocery delivery from their local Co-op continue to grow.”
Co-op is committed to promoting healthier and more resilient high streets, and its approach to quick commerce sees orders picked fresh in local stores and delivered quickly and conveniently in the community. An estimated 86% of the UK population now has access to Co-op groceries online, through its own online shop and strategic partners. Co-op has ambitions to grow to more than 30% share of the UK quick commerce grocery market.
This latest development follows the launch of Deliveroo Express in April this year as Deliveroo continues to drive new delivery solutions for grocers and retailers. The service enables partners to leverage Deliveroo’s first class logistics technology and extensive rider network to offer an on-demand delivery option through their own website or app.
Deliveroo’s grocery business has seen strong growth since launching in 2018, reaching 16% of gross transaction value (GTV) and reporting strong double digit growth in 2024. Progress has been driven by increased partner and product selection, improved consumer experience and greater awareness of the offering. The on-demand delivery platform partners with many leading UK supermarkets such as Morrisons, Asda, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose, Whole Foods, NISA, and Spar, as well as small independent businesses.
