Co-op and Deliveroo first joined forces in 2017, with quick commerce since becoming a channel in its own right. Co-op is one of Deliveroo’s largest grocery partnerships. Following the three-year contract renewal, plans have been confirmed for 110 additional Co-op stores to become available via Deliveroo this year, with its network of riders meaning millions of households across the country can order from Co-op and have its award-winning own-brand; Fairtrade, ethically sourced products as well as well-known branded groceries delivered quickly and conveniently from store to door in minutes.

Orders are picked fresh in local Co-op stores and are then delivered quickly and conveniently to customers’ front doors. Deliveroo customers can choose from around 2,300 Co-op items, from top-up and forgotten items to meals and treats for evenings in. The deliveries can also help to cut congestion and unnecessary short car journeys, with the most popular items ordered including: milk, bananas, cucumbers, strawberries, chicken, cola and chocolate buttons.

Carlo Mocci, Chief Business Officer UK&I, Deliveroo said: “Co-op is one of Deliveroo’s largest on-demand grocery partnerships and it continues to be a huge success. Deliveroo’s riders have brought countless pints of milk, bananas and meal-time staples to households throughout the UK, helping to rescue tea time, picnic plans and more. We’re delighted to be extending our partnership and bringing more choice into people’s lives and easier ways to shop.”

Chris Conway, eCommerce Director, Co-op, said: “Co-op is committed to exploring new and innovative ways to serve our members and customers, they lead busy lives and so ease, speed and convenience is at the heart of our approach. We are delighted to be able to expand our partnership with Deliveroo - as a convenience retailer, the ability to come into stores will always be important to customers, but we also know that shoppers want flexible and convenient options online, and so we are focused on providing what our customers want and need, however and wherever they choose to shop with us.”

Following a successful trial, Deliveroo Signature is also being rolled out across hundreds of Co-op stores, making Deliveroo’s UK-wide network of riders also available to deliver orders placed directly with Co-op through its own online shop – shop.coop.co.uk - and giving Co-op customers greater choice and availability of delivery slots.
