Supernova - Marco Turco - Veneto (Breganze)
From young and old vines located around two hundreds meters above sealevel in basalt. The local Vespaiola and a splash of Garganega are destemmed and fermented on the skins for a coupe of days in the fiberglass. Little of the must from the same harvests added to the bottle at the end of the winter for second fermentation. No disgorgment and no sulphite added, resulting in a unique frizzante. The iconic fizzante of Vespaiola comes from four different plots up to fifty years old planted over basalt. Mostly direct pressed, a small quantity sits on the sins for twenty four hours. Aged for six months in stainless steel before before being transferred to bottle with a little must for second fermentation. An international grape variety is difficult to grow in Friulihas found a region whereto perform outstandingly. It's rubyred in colourand, on the nose it shows a sensation of raspberry, berries, and in some vintages, violet. In the mouth it is slender, satisfying, characterized by an uncommon drink. Balanced by a trace of clear sapidity it can also be soft and caressing before a closure of great persistence and personality. Ample red fruit and slice on the nose. A beautiful sparkling rosato of Lambrusco Salamino. The grapes only spend a night infusing with their skins, leaving a light, bright wine that is a beautiful shade of pink. Initially fermented in vat, the wine is transferred to bottle with a little must for the second fermentation. Nerocapitano is what locals in Filippo's village call Frappato. The fruit here comes from twenty year old vines plantedover clay and sandstone. The grapes were fermented on the skins for a fortnight, before being pressed off to concrete vats to rest. Mostly Sangiovese, with small amounts of Ciliegiolo, Cannaiolo and Vaiano, planted together as tradition in the area. The grapes were destemmed and the wine spent three weeks on sins, before being pressed off to large casks of chestnut and oak for a year of rest. Bright red in the glass, it's soft and supple, offering a refreshing hit of sour cherry, earth and leafy herbs. An even blend of Barbera and Ruche, destemmed and fermented together on skins for two months before being pressed off to a variety of vessels to rest for nine months. The former brings pure black and blue fruit and plenty of acidity, while the latter's pretty aromatics make this very inviting indeed. Pignoletto is a grape indigenous to the Colli Bolognesi. Frederick harvests this from young, healthy vines planted over clay and limestone. It is fermented in vat, with little of the must from the same harvest added to the bottle for the second fermentation. It is aged on Lees and never disgroged. This non-vintage wine is drawn from a big old concrete vats which contains a blend of Pignoletto, Alionza, Albans and Malvasia from different vineyards of various ages, from every single vintage back to 2010. The wines are made in different ways, in a variety of vessels. The majority of the blend is made up of wine from most recent vintage and vat us constantly topped up with young wine to prevent oxidation. This is a great trattoria wine that is easy to drink, is anything but simple.£38.00
