As part of your starter, think about treating everyone to some arancini. These stuffed rice balls are covered in breadcrumbs, then fried until they are crisp and golden. You can get them filled with ragu (a traditional meat and tomato sauce), or plain tomato sauce, mozzarella and vegetables. Meat lovers will adore the traditional main dish, ossobuco alla Milanese. Veal shanks, slowly cooked in white wine and loads of veggies, along with a lemon garlic sauce called gremolata makes it absolutely delicious.
Of course, you have to have some kind of pasta, it’s not an Italian feast without it! Try pasta alla carbonara if you like a creamy, rich dish with eggs, Pecorino cheese, pine nuts and Parmesan cheese. Don’t forget an excellent Italian red to wash it all down with.
