Meal allowances
A meal allowance is a company-funded budget that employees can use to pay for food during work hours, business trips, or specific occasions. Companies set a spending limit and may apply additional controls, such as timing, to ensure compliance with meal policies.
This perk helps businesses support their teams by providing convenient access to meals while maintaining control over costs.
Employees use the same Deliveroo app, where the meal allowance appears at checkout, allowing them to charge the order to the company while enjoying the flexibility to choose their meals.
Create as many Meal Allowances as you want, there’s no limit.
Set up an allowance for your whole business, specific teams or departments, or individual employees.
Decide how much and when the meal allowance can be used, so you’re always in control.
You have access to additional controls, such as frequency, timing, delivery location and the ability to track expenses.
Learn more about meal allowances in our learning hub.
Once you have access to your company portal, you can easily add your team members to an employee list and assign them to various groups and allowances.
If they're new to Deliveroo, they'll receive an email invite. If they already have an account, they can jump right in and start using the product straight away.
Their meal allowance will appear as a payment option at checkout on the Deliveroo app or website.
To learn how, watch this short video.
If an order exceeds the Meal Allowance, the employee will only need to cover the difference.
We recommend setting a daily allowance of £30–£35 for lunch or an evening meal.
To ensure a smooth experience, it's best to inform employees of their Meal Allowance amount before they place an order.
